Student Scholarships

When Angelica began the comedor, she knew the malnutrition many of the students faced was affecting their performance in school.

For the past 12 years, the presence of the comedor has meant children are able to attend school with full stomachs and excel in their classes.

The Comedor

Angelica's community kitchen, or comedor serves about 28 children between the ages of 5 and 18 Monday through Friday.

Mothers with children in the program take turns preparing and serving food for their children.

The comedor has helped address the issues of malnutrition among children in the community aiding in their overall improved health.

The comedor also offers the women in the community a safe place where they can meet and discuss important issues, practice yoga, make crafts and emotionally support one another.

OUR PROJECTS

Many of the students that began attending the comedor as small children are now in High School, but their families' financial situations put them at risk for dropping out.

Without a High School degree, students from rural towns have very few options for a career.

In 2015, after many conversations with Angelica, we decided Tortillas for Tepecoyo would become

Tortillas + An Education for Tepecoyo.
